My Star.....prose

My star

Look up into the evening sky, my friend.
Tell me, what do you see?
I see more stars than I could ever count,
each one lighting up the dense void and twinkling brightly.
There is a cloud passing over the moon, see it?
Watch how its radiance dims, but for a moment,
and then light filters through the ragged edges,
gradually gaining strength and returning to its previous luster.

You are my star. Glittering against my darkness;
illuminating all around you
and creating a sphere of light to guide me.
I was once like that cloud--
an overshadowing pall of fear and loathing.
Then, unbelievably, our paths crossed
and your brilliance penetrated my opacity;
searing the hatred from my soul and replacing the anger with love.
