So Xena is now a GAY person?
It still does not sink in... sorry....

Maybe you are right... maybe Gabby is Xena's soulmate...
But then why did Gabriel marry?
Didn't Xena love that tall, dark guy... Marcus or something.
Remember that episode when it was the future... I forgot its name...
the one where ROC is the explorer and finds the scrolls... she says that
Xena loved only one man named Marcus... or somthing... and killed him so that
he can be happy... or something...

I am still fuzzy but it will clear up...I hope.

I pay a lot of attention to the subtext report, so here are my two dinars, as they say here:
1. Just because at one point in life you have had heterosexual relationships doesn't mean you might not later meet someone of the same sex and fall hopelessly for them;
2. Love knows no bounds--true love doesn't recognize rules, only what is real--that connection between two people's souls and hearts. And that doesn't always please every member of society.
3. It's nobody's business anyway--that is a private matter between two people. Who am I to say what love is or isn't? Who am I to be someone else's judge or jury? (Please do not interpret this to mean that I think you are judging--I don't.)

Love, at its best, is a redeeming force, a universal force, and cannot be confined by societal expectations. Love will outlast us all, has outlasted all other civilizations and societal customs in human history, and it will outlast everything else in this universe. So in the end love is all that really matters.

There are my thoughts. Hope they add something to the discussion.

Xena has never been defined as a lesbian.

Not only did she love Marcus, but she's had affairs with Caeser, Raif and Ulysses.

The producers have cleverly written "subtext" into the show which allows viewers of all different types of lifestyles the ability to view Xena as they wish. It's nothing more than that.

I believe we may never know for sure, until possibly, the very last episode of XWP. They have too much to lose right now, so it makes sense to keep dragging it along. If it were presently revealed that they ARE lovers, they'd lose many straight viewers and maybe some sponsors, and open themselves up to serious criticism and censorship. If we're shown that they're definitely not gay, then there goes a lot of the gay viewership, and a large part of the mystique that surrounds the show. So they've got to play it safe, and be as ambiguous as possible.
