So why doesn't he get a clue and respect those feelings? Because it's love between two women? I'll tell you, gay women have seen that type of thing so often, it's certainly one thing that triggers a great deal of dislike for the character. He doesn't respect others' feelings nor their personal, physical space.

Oh, it's all right for him to cavort in bordellos but the women he cavorts with are called tramps? Bit of a double standard there! If Joxer had any decency, he wouldn't use Meg the way he does, especially considering that she really loves him. But from all appearances, with Joxer, the woman's feelings don't matter - the only thing that's important is what HE wants from them, be it sex or love.

Typical spoiled, self-centered male.

Just 98 percent of you.

Basically he is just used as a foil, anyway, to detract from the intense relationship between Xena and Gab. (And I admit - most of the time, he takes a good lickin' from Gab, but he keeps on tickin'.

Some would say that Joxer is like a puppy dog. He is too old to be a puppy dog, so that makes him just a plain ol' dog. He is a braggart, a liar, an incompetent fool given to self-aggrandizing, cavorts in brothels, is given to insulting the talents of others and calls people - especially women - unflattering names, makes constant references to his "prowess" and imposes himself in situations where he is not welcome. In other words, Joxer is the very definition of a nightmare to millions of women! Such behavior could be sloughed off if Joxer were a five year old, but he is a man...or some resemblance of one.

Frankly, if Joxer loved Gabrielle so much, then I seriously question why he has never taken Xena to task for nearly torturing the bard to death. Perhaps he is to busy fantasizing about naked dancing Gabbys. And a man wouldn't use Meg like he does. This character, IMHO, has a long way to go before he could be called honorable...or mature.

So when I want some comic relief, please give me Sal, Vidalis, Minya, Meleager, even Lila...oh, right. There's no room for them in the show anymore. Well, there are Joxer-type clowns all over the tube, and I became a fan of X:WP to escape having to watch yet another show that had a bumbling, sexist idiot as a focal character. I can get that on "Married With Children" or "Men Behaving Badly" or hundreds of other shows. If there's going to be a male regular in the show, why this one? I for one don't find him funny. I find the character insulting and obnoxious.

THP was this your reply to my post of Joxer making the most,
If it is so, then I will clarify.
I merely raised the notion that Joxer should confess his love for Gabrielle,
as I interpret it to be more than a crush, while you see it the other way as
just an obvious lust,
Yet truth to be rectified once and for all I believe nobody is a prize to be won,
and love should be true when all is said and done.
Not to be blue, or dampen more spirits,
lets take a look, and see what's really in it.
Joxer is a clumsy fool no doubt about it, but his heart is in the right place,
and yes possibility exist for the other way as ya mentioned, but let's clarify
one gosh darn notion,
Gabrielle is a wondrous creation by MCA/Universal writers who have lost
all respect from the fans that have supported the show,
and that is that she is a character in a show, with many questions,
just as Tennessee Williams when he wrote "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" It left
many questions which oftentimes adds to tension,
which is a good time ya know. ;)

No, it was not a reply specifically to your post, but to literally dozens of posts I have read on this forum and elsewhere regarding who Gabrielle should love. Gab should love whoever SHE wants to love. Period.

> Joxer is a clumsy fool no doubt about it, but his heart is in the right place,

That is your opinion. IMO, real men do not try to take advantage of women who are in an incapacitated state, or continually force themselves upon somone who does not return their affections, or claim to love someone while spending their time hanging around in whorehouses. Real love is unselfish, and sometimes that means backing off! But even if Joxer were a prince, it wouldn't make any difference. She still wouldn't owe him anything.

I get really tired of the way some fans, but in particular some who are pushing for a G/J romance, speak "around Gab", as if her character's wishes didn't count. Well of course they don't, because Gabrielle is THE WOMAN, and whether Xena wants her or Joxer does, she should sublimate whatever the hell SHE wants and just fork it over. Poppycock! No one should have a relationship because they feel sorry for someone or feel "guilty" for not returning another's feelings. Those kinds of relationships are doomed from the start.

It's HER body, HER feelings and HER right to choose. You go, Gabrielle!

But I digress...no, my post was not aimed at you. Just some general observations, and I had to toss in my couple of denarii.

Later :-)
