This is a tutorial made by me, Ryan Pitts, on how to make what I think is a pretty close match to realistic grass in Bryce. Now, the only real way, that I can think of, to get the simulation of thousands of little blades of grass, is to actually have them. WHOAAA!!! Don't leave yet. It's easier then you'd think. Now, I used Bryce 4 for this tutorial, but 3d and maybe 2 will work as well. |

The first thing your gonna want to do after opening Bryce of course, is to make a mountain, or terrain. After that, click on the E button that is next to it. This will bring you into the Terrain Editor. Here you can edit the shape and properties of your terrain. |

The first thing you'll wanna do is get rid of the current terrain. It's that cloudy lookin' black and white thing to the right. To do this, observe the diagram for the button I've colored yellow. <Raise/Lower> Click this button once to get rid of the terrain. You should now have a smooth black terrain in the picture. Now we can make the grass. To do so notice the button I've colored turquoise for you, called <Spikes>. Click this button repaeatedly until your terrain is about as spikey as it's gonna get. |

Click and drag where the orange circle is until you can see the red, Try to get it as close to where mine is as you can. |

Well, that was the difficult part. All that's left now is to add the grassy texture. I tweaked around a textue a tiny bit and got a decent grass texture. You might wanna experiment with your own, but you can use mine too. To get it click <here>. |

Here's a close-up of it with the texture. I suppose it could also be a forest frm the sky-view. |

Here is the finished product at a close-up view. The grass is really large so you might want to scale it down and then duplicate a lot of 'em. This will increase render times, but the effect will be nearly perfect. |
