Well, maybe that's too grand an idea...I'll tell you instead, how I got the idea for "This Is War"..... It started with the germ of an idea, and a different story which I never gave a title to...heh heh...something to be said about my procrastinating!! Well, I had the idea that I wanted a character whose gender was hidden...and the story line I was working on was a 'third' character who was to join X & G...but I really didn't like the plot I had written (hence the reason it's not posted..I never finished it)... So I thought long and hard while delivering pizza (the second job that actually pays the bills!) and I came up with a long put aside passion I have for the Civil War. Even in high school, I brought up the idea of a woman in our reenactment unit who might have joined up in the disguise of a man...my instructor was none too thrilled, although he was aware that it had been known to happen during that war. So I took this long buried idea, and decided to bring it to life, using the 124th NYSV as the unit in the story, since that is the reenactment unit that I knew the most about, having been one of it's founding members back in 1984. (ok..so I just dated myself...oh, well.) =0)~
