This CD kicks ass! It's a little creepy, a little UFOey, but Beth Gibbons rocks my world, she has such a unique voice. John has a huge CD collection, he just buys whatever he likes.
Smashing Pumpkins, Adore
I bought thid CD a while back, and was totally obsessed for a while. I bought it mainly for the song Ava Adore, I love the beat but it turned out the rest of the CD was nothing like it. I liked the CD anyway, though its great.
Air, Moon Safari
This is without a doubt my all around favorite CD. I think I love every single song on this album. Air is a French Techno band, and they totally KICK ASS. I don't have it yet, but the first song I heard from Air I heard with John and Callaway has this CD, so I'll probably burn it(illegal stuff! yay!)
Poe, Hello
This is probably my favorite CD right now that I (don't) own. Poe is an awesome singer, and I have become so attached to this CD that I don't think I'll ever give it back to John :) I listened to it the entire time I was reading the Dark Tower series (Stephen King) and its like it goes perfectly with the books. I dunno, I just really REALLY like this CD, its one of the few I can fall asleep to.
Depeche Mode, Singles >86-98
This is a really good CD, mainly I bought it for Only When I Lose Myself, I'm obsessed with that song, its so good. Depeche Mode rocks.
Garbage (self-titled)
I really like Garbage, Shirley Manson is my goddess :) she's awesome, and I will always love Garbage, their music is awesome and I can listen to it any time, anywhere.
Radiohead, OK Computer
I LOVE radiohead. This is THE CD for me to fall asleep to. I borrowed this from Anjuli for a while, then I gave it back but I'll probably burn this one too. It just makes me feel really good. They are an excellent band, they're also Callaway's favorite band.
Top Ten Favorite Albums to Listen to While Painting
1. Portishead- Roseland NYC Live
Portishead is great... its very relaxing yet not sedating, and perfect to listen to while painting. Apparently a favorite among painters, so I've learned from my classes at SAIC
2. Radiohead- OK Computer
One of the best all around albums I have ever heard. I love love love Radiohead, his voice is so awesome. I bought Kid A but like OK Computer better, although I do like a few songs on the new album a whole lot.
3. Basement Jaxx- Remedy
This is a nice little dance-type album... causes me to paint very spontaneously, and once listened to a few times gets very addicting. Its fun to dance around and paint at the same time
4. Morcheeba- Big Calm
Morcheeba is ever increasingly popular, I've noticed among the techno crowd, although I've been listening to this CD for about a year now. It's really great, the singer has a very soothing, mellow yet light and pleasant voice. I should never, ever be a music reviewer I've decided.
5. Trainspotting Soundtrack
Yes I'm one of those "losers" that listens to soundtracks from movies theyv'e never seen. speaking of which... I know I have the soundtrack from Virgin Suicides and just realized its not in my case. Damnit. I don't know where my Best of U2 pop CDs are either, both of them. I hate it when people steal CDs. Anyways... Trainspotting is a great CD, very lively, very eclectic. You'd understand if you've heard it. Another one I've noticed a lot of painters own.
6. Poe-Haunted, Hello
I heard this CD got bad reviews but I don't know why... at first I didn't like it and now its one of my favorites... it's very good, I always loved Poe. I just went back and added Hello too, since I listened to it nonstop for such a long time.
7. Music from and Inspired by the Motion Picture Groove
yet another soundtrack to a movie I've never seen... this one will forever remind me of Trevor, the coolesy little rave kid in the world who introduced me to it. Another dance-type CD that's very good for painting.
8. Moloko- Do You Like my Tight Sweater?
Fun For Me, which is track 1 is one of my favorite songs of all time. I love this CD, but you have to be in a certain mood for it. There's one song called I think Party Weirdo and its crazy, and another one about a crazy Bunny. Great CD, yet another fantasmic vocalist.
9. Sneaker Pimps- Becoming X
Yet another all around great album. I love Sneaker Pimps, I think I like a lot of seductive girl bands, Garbage, No Doubt, I have a lot of, and others mentioned above or not mentioned at all...
10. Moby-Play
Very relaxing, very fun.
11. Okay I lied, there are 11 instead of 10.
Magnolia Soundtrack
I've actually SEEN this movie so HA! I love Aimee Mann, she's so much fun to sing to.
I can't remember the rest right now...
Stuff I listen to really recently... that I can think of since everything else on this list is pathetically outdated
Orbital- In John's Car- orgasmic but I don't own the CD
Supergrass- Once again don't own the CD but have it in my possesion, as it belongs to Oliver and I'm holding it for ransom until he gives me my million dollars
Discount- NYC local band, also Oliver's
Delerium- Poem- Oh wow, I actually bought this one. Not bad. Kind of like Enya on X.
Bob Marley- 19something something to something something- yeah... can't you tell its way late at night... John got this for me for Christmas, what a sweetheart. Marley always reminds me of my roommate in Chicago.
No Doubt- Return of Saturn- Yes. I am a pop diva. Whatever.
uh... what else am I listening to... Stereolab... this is the best stuff to get laid to...
Ween- How weird is this music... my favorite is the one about the little boy with spinal meningitis... so weird... and the one about the pony.. yeah... and the voodoo....
King Missile III- Funny shit... Up My Ass is my favorite song personally
The Pixies- Immortal.
Ollie Durhl- Local Dallas Band, Hot monster tall lead singer.
Super Furry Animals- Welsh band, weird-ass music but very good
Radiohead Kid A- I bought this while horribly stoned. I had to have been.
If you fart a lot... I applaud you...
I promise this section won't suck so hard the next time I update it.
