I haven't gotten around to posting any lyrics yet, and I probably won't. I'm totally paranoid about someone stealing my stuff. Soooo, I'll just keep posting song titles, and you guys will just have to deal with it. Actually, if you really like me, and I really know you, you might be able to haggle a few lyrics out of me....but if you knew me..you'd know that already..wouldn't you?

And how they came to be..

The early stuff 94-95:

Under the Ashtree:

No, not ashtray. This was the first song I ever tried to write..it's pretty bad. *L* It has sentimental value, though, because it was written about my friend Denise.

Leap!:

The second song....still pretty bad. It has possibilities, I suppose..but I don't remember my motivation for writing it, and can't relate anymore. Hell, I was 15 for crying out loud!

Nocturne (for M.) :

This one's a bit like Tori's "Song for Eric", I suppose...and thayat's all I'm gonna say about thayat.

The 'Alanis' Phase. Aka, the only good things that came out of a bad relationship (and some of them are pretty cheesey). '97

Torch Crimson

Let it Rain

When You Wake Up

The 22nd Floor

Free

A Word to Rhyme with Orange (spokenword)

And then..it started getting interesting.. late '97-98.

Girl:

Inspired by the death of Princess Diana.

Poppies:

Yet another "Song for Eric" kindof thing.

Your Voice (also for M.)

Messy:

Depwessed Heddoo..

Little Girls:

The title says it all, really. It's about my childhood.

A Letter to God:

Inspired by Amber..because she's a Jesus Freak. :-)

The Year of the Broken Man:

I guess you could say that '98 was not a "Pretty Good Year". *chuckle*

Better Hands:

Illusions are dangerous people...they have no flaws. -- from the movie "Sabrina".

I am:

Well it's true....I am..

Songs for '99..

Dream:

Well, if you must know this one was kindof inspired by the BareNakedLadies song "If I had a Million Dollars". This one's just a tiny bit deeper, though. Hi Liz! *L*

Vanilla:

Mmmmmmm!

They:

Based on all of the y2k hoopla, and all the nonesense that "They" are talking about.

Wash Me Clean, Steve McQueen:

Heh..I'm gonna be a SuperStar™.

I'm Sorry:

I find myself apologizing all the time...so I wrote a song about it.

The Absence of Darkness:

This one came out of nowhere...it's almost happy...whoa..*L*

Head over Footlights:

It should almost be called "You can Never go Home"..but this title is more original..*L*

Gone Away:

Well, ok, so lately I've been thinking about how all of my friends (basically) have gone off to college, and "started" their lives, and I'm still sitting here writing these trite song lyrics. I shouldn't complain, I suppose...but...well...you know.

Between the Rainbows and the Sea:

This is a pretty-little-fluffy song....whoa..scary.

Beloved:

My one and only love song...

I See the Sun:

I'm particularly proud of this one, it's sortof impowering..in a ...depressing sortof way?

Can't Fight This:

It's about a girl, who loves a boy, but the boy doesn't love her anymore..whatelse is new? What's odd, is that I wasn't even in a relationship when I wrote this. But anyway...

Ask:

I like this song. Have you ever really, REALLY wanted to be with somone, but didn't have the guts to tell them? This song's for you.

I Am the Water:

Yes, I finally wrote it. After years of having only the chorus swimming around in my head, the rest of the lyrics came. There they were, staring me in the face like Hamlet's father. Guess you could say I was kinda proud of myself for finally getting it up..er..getting it out...er..writing it.

If I Searched:

This one gets an 'honourable mention', so it doesn't get jealous. Not one of my best..kinda silly and sentimental..but we all have our days.

Here's To..:

Another sentimental song..

Life is Good:

Whoa! I was in such a good mood one day, that I actually wrote a song about it..somebody slap me!!

You are my Midnight:

Long story....

Morning Glory:

After a four-month dry spell, a breeze tickled my nose at 2am, and I started writing again. I think that little breeze saved my life.

Kissing Olivia:

This song is cool. Wanna know why? Ofcourse you do. About a year ago, I wrote out a list of all of the songs that would go on the 'album', whenever I actually MAKE an album. The songs were as follows: Girl, Ask, I am the Water, I See the Sun, Better Hands, Head over Footlights, I'm Sorry, Kissing Olivia, Your Voice, and The Absence of Darkness. Well, as you all know, I am the Water ran from me for a long time, but I finally caught it. Sooo, Kissing Olivia was the only one left to write...and I did it. The darned song has been floating around in my head for about 4 years, and it finally came. I felt a real sense of accomplishment after writing it, and am kinda-sorta proud of myself. Just thought I'd ramble.
