Each of my books has its own unique personality despite the fact they all have a few features in common; like a front cover, a back cover and a number of pages in betweeen. And most of them are made from paper although there have been exceptions to this. I have made books from handmade paper, scrap paper, fine cartridge paper and delicate tissue paper, bound with pigskin, kangaroo vellum, marbled paper or silk sewn with beads. I have made tiny fairy-size books and large art books. I have made books from paperbark, with strong bark covers, bound with palm fronds. In general though I tend to make an average size A5 volume with around 100 pages bound in 5 to 7 sections with hardcovers and asoft spine about 2 centimetres wide. I favour a variety of good quality plain paper and apply various techniques according to the feel of the book. I am pleased to tailor a book to specific needs if someone has inspiring ideas!

Parting with a handmade book is a bit like adopting a child out. Does that sound alittle over the top! I like to know where they are going and what the new owner has in mind for them (if they want to tell me!) Some of my books have found homes all over the world, including one I bartered for some wonderful fonts (ask Ethan from Fonthead Design). I like to think people will fill them with their own brand of creativity and be inspired to turn it into a personal work of art totally unique. For this reason I could never be a bulk supplier of individual books. I am happy to keep creating at my own pace, which means they aren't available on demand. There's a wait of two to three weeks if you'd like one.

To make enquiries about a book you'd like made or to order one, email me and we'll talk about the details. For a basic book as described above, the charge is approximately $125 Australian, which is less in U.S dollars - plus postage
