Do the Clothes Really Make the Man?
by the Cherry Bomb

I get so mad when people judge me based on what I wear. Some people have said really annoying things to me. Like "Oh, I didn't think people who liked (band name here) dressed in clothes from Club Monaco.

Yes, people it is true. The lovable, awesome, radical (just pretend with me okay) Cherry Bomb wears clothes from Club Monaco. In the beginning I only wore clothes from there because I had to buy them for work (yes I am employed by Club Monaco). But lately I'm seeing some things in there that I like, and might just buy even if I didn't work there and get a 40% discount. But I buy them because I get 40% off, can wear them to work, and I like them.
Oh no!!! And people have met me with this awful backlash. People think that if you write a zine, or listen to certain music that you shouldn't shop in Club Monaco. To tell you the truth if I hadn't started working there I would probably still be wearing jeans 2 sizes too big and band t-shirts and wool sweaters. Now I wear cute little jackets on occasion. I wear jeans that fit, and flare. I wear t-shirts without band names or fucked up quotes on them. You know what? I kind of like it.

I'm the same person who listens to Ani DiFranco and Bikini Kill and NIN and the Doors and the Ramones. I'm the same person who writes angsty poetry, weird short stories, and bitchy rants. Lately I've just been doing it in flared dark denim jeans that fit me properly.
