I was listening to the radio the other day and they were giving music celebrity facts. One of the facts they said had something to do with the fact that Pink Floyd's Dark Side Of The Moon could be played as a soundtrack to The Wizard Of Oz. They also mentioned that Willy Wonka and London Calling with also closely related. So I decided to check it out for myself. The following are my "connection" results combined with another fellows results. He goes by the name of Mike, he was very helpful and he posts up on the London's Burning noticeboard.

rhythm of the factory equiptment matches the beat in London Calling

"Now get this" from London Calling when candystore guy shows new bar

"Give me a smile" said in London Calling. This example was the one given on the radio. When that is said, some kids in Bill's candy store smile.

when the kids in the candy store are grabbing Lollipops the rhythm matches

"Sugar" said during some song or other. It's said just as that Bill guy starts to throw things that look like marshmallows on all the children.

the same guitar note every time Charlie throws a newspaper

drumsticks as WONKA sign is lighting up outside of the factory

"cut off his ears and chop off his head" from Jimmy Jazz. This part in Willy Wonka is when that man with the cart of knives and sharp weapons commonly used in the kitchen is talking to Charlie and looking sinister.

the "anything I want" chorus from Hateful when the Wonka bars are being distributed

"go out again" from Hateful when Charlie leaves.

"sing Michael sing" from the beginning of Rudie Can't Fail. Some guy in the film is talking with his psychiatrist, but when you put the volume down real low it looks like he is singing.

"wont buy a hat" from Rudie Can't Fail. Here Charlie gets a scarf for his birthday.... but no hat!

"oh please leave the vendana open" from Spanish Bombs. Vendana is a window in Spanish and at this point Mr Salt opens his window from his office to his factories to yell at his workers.

"I'm flying in on a DC-10 tonight." from Spanish Bombs. Wonka Bars get unloaded from a Pan Am night flight

"her face in the sun..." from The Right Profile. At this point in the movie Violet is on TV talking about her gum and how she got the Golden Ticket. Its really really sunny where she is standing.

"sure looks funny..." said in The Right Profile. Here Charlie starts to whine about he wants a golden ticket and how he is different. Not because I think he looks funny, but because he talks about how his life is shit and all that.

"lost in the supermarket" I dont have to say the name of the song. Charlie starts walking around being poor and sad.

"anger can be power" from Clampdown. Some rich lady at this point flips and starts yelling. Again, when you turn down the volume she looks very intimidating.

"shot down on the pavement" from The Guns of Brixton. Charlie starts walking all sad again.

"The money feels good." from The Guns of Brixton Charlie finds money in the gutter that makes him feel good.

Guns of Brixton ends when Charlie finds the golden ticket

At the point in the song Wrong 'Em Boyo when the song starts over much more upbeat, Charlie starts running like mad. Goes quite nicely if you ask me.

"you betta stop" from Wrong Em Boyo. That Slugworth guy appears out of no where and stops Charlie on the street.

"You like, steal, cheat and deceit... Don't you know it's wrong?" from Wrong 'Em Boyo. The evil character Slugworth tries to finagle Charlie's Golden Ticket.

music flares when everyone gets happy

music changes when grandpa walks

In The Cards Cheat, when the trumpets start, Willy Wonka starts walking on his red carpet. This also goes great.

"he wont be alive for long" from The Card Cheat. This is when that chubby German kid meets Willy Wonka and shakes his hand. The Clash were obviously making reference to the fact he was going to downed in chocolate or atleast be killed on impact cause of that pressure thing in the next couple of scenes. (Wonka says he wasnt killed but I dissagree)

Grandpa looks really down during "down" part in I'm not down

"will she forget that name she has" from something or other. Veruca Salt begins to sign that big contract at the Wonka factory.

"food for thought monsters" We are all introduced to those frightening OompaLoompa people.... and they are talking about food! Not to mention there is also a discussion about their existance going on shortly after.

"I'm in a state of shock" from Revolution Rock is said when the fat kid falls into the pool of chocolate

"said you felt trapped" from Train in Vain. People start flipping out because they go into that tunnel with the chicken's heads being cut off etc.

Now the speculation is over. Run with these links and search for the truth!
