Seven Years in Tibet
Brad Pitt stars in the true story of an Austrian mountaineer and Nazi poster-boy, Heinrich Harrer. Fleeing family and international trife during WWII, Harrer climbs the Himalayas, where he befriends the 11-year-old boy who will grow up to become the Dalia Lama. Beautifully mounted, yet emotionally empty, this production is about his spiritual grown though adversity. The movie is gorgeously landscaped and succeeds visually and musically. But it comes up short in acting and story - not to mention Pitt's atrocious accent.
The Devil's Advocate
Al Pacino is a lawyer from Hell doing a memorable turn as satanic mentor to the impressionable Keanu Reeves. Reeves stars as a lawyer with a conscience, tempted by Al Pacino to join his law firm. Except Pacino ruins his life by destroying everything important to him, and luring him into a fatal destiny. There are countless shocking plot-twists, and overall, the movie will scare the daylights out of you!
A Life Less Ordinary
This is a screwball romantic-comedy, which is more screwy than comedy, brought to you by the writers of Trainspotting. Robert, a sweet, dim maintenance worker (Ewan McGregor), replaced by a robot, decides to get revenge on his rich boss by kidnapping the boss's daughter Celine (Cameron Diaz). She, naturally, turns out to be eager to collaborate in ripping off Daddy. Angels with a mean streak, played by Holly Hunter and Delroy Lindo, have been sent to earth to bring this two crazy kids together. The odd dream sequences and cornball ending make it seem as if they had a fiasco in the editing room.
Bean
Mr. Bean speaks, stumbles and fumbles just like his TV show, but there's one difference - a real story line as opposed to a series of sketches. And the story is good, displaying differences between British and American culture, as Mr.Bean impersonates a globe-trotting art expert and runs riot in Beverly Hills.
