Get your own Free Home Page right now!!!! :)I know a fair bit about politcs in Canada. I'm not exactly THE authourity on the subject, but I have my views AND reasons why I support them. I think it's incredibly sad when people support a certain political party but don't know much about their platform and history.
So history on a whole is not that important since change is always possible but if you don't know what the policital party you support stands for you're just asking to be included in the dictionary next to the word ignorant.
There are a lot of reasons why people support certain parties. The one that I see the most being only 16 are the people who support a political party because their parents support them. These are kids taking the easy way out. (Yes kids!) They quote their parents, and claim that Liberal/PC/Reform/NDP/Bloc is the best way to go. These kids don't want to take the time to learn about the parties... and I mean all the parties. It's great to know everything that the Liberals stand for but if you don't know what the other parties want to do you could be making the wrong choice.
These kids say that Liberals (or whoever) are the right choice because of all the great things their parents told them the Liberals stand for. Let me ask you a question kids? Why on Earth would someone supporting Liberals (or anyone else) tell you what's wrong with the party. There are always some cons for all the pros and most likely you're parents wouldn't mention that the Liberals didn't keep many of thier promises from the last election. Your parents will focus on the good. It makes complete sense for your parents to do that. But the one problem is you should be taking the responsibility to find out all sides to the story for yourself.
You're letting your parents make decisions for you and these are the same parents who you couldn't agree on a curfew with but in the matter of polictics (something that effects everyone's life and YOUR future) you blindly agree with them just because they say you should?! Gee... am I the only one who sees a problem with this?
