Are you too good for you home?!?!
This here is my rant 'o the ish!
I work in a pretty trendy, and kind of expensive store. It's not a bad place to work. The people I work with are cool. I make seven dollars an hour. And I'll let you all in on a little secret. I'm actually beginning to like most of the clothes in there. (don't tell anyone!!).
I've been working as a dedicated cashier for the christmas rush since about the end of November. In the last 2 weeks I had 3 days off. Now I like being a cashier... most of the time. I really liked it. The first day I did it (worked the whole time behind the cash not even allowed to step out from behind my counter) it was cool for the first hour. I got to talk to pretty friendly people. Of course I knew something was going to have to spoil it!
IGNORANT PEOPLE!! Sheesh I wish they would keep dumb people out of the malls. At least keep them away from the store where I work in. Okay let me give you some examples of this ignorance I encountered.
Example #1: We make out gift certificates for gift giving like most stores do. Someone came up to me with a gift certificate for $75 and asked me if they could redeem it for cash. I explained to her that she could not. Written right at the top of the card it says "NOT REEDEEMABLE FOR CASH". Okay so she argues with me for a few minutes and leaves. She comes back five minutes later with her mom. They do not wait in line but push in front of the lady whose purchase I was ringing up and proceed to bitch and complain rather loudly. I try to explain to the mother politely that I cannot redeem her gift certificate for money because it is against our rules. My manager sees the commotion comes over and tries to explain it to her as well. She swears at him, accuses him of patronizing her and being sexist and walks huffs out.
Example #2: Someone wanted to write a cheque for their purchases which is okay as long as it is a personalized cheque (with the name and address in the top corner), and they have a valid drivers lisence and credit card. Well her cheques weren't personalized so I told her I could not accept the cheque. Her companion started swearing at me and saying "I've worked in retail for 20 goddamn years and this is the most ridiculous thing I've heard for fucks sake!".
Example #3 & #4: This has happened on two seperate occasions. They tried to trick me into thinking their purchase was cheaper by changing price tags. Ahhh... amateurs!
Examples #5 thru #10: People who barely know me insisting I give them a discount. ARGH!
Examples #10 thru #19: People who refuse to give me their phone numbers when I process their refunds.
There are of course more examples but these are my favourites (or is that least favourites?) hmm... anyways I hate these stupid people. Thank you good bye for now!
