Who Am I?
a rose by any other name...
my name is petra... i
chose it for myself... it comes from the greek root for rock...
it reminds me of the strength and wisdom i
have at my command...
petra is also the ancient capitol of jordan,
a place of deep spiritual significance...
many people ask why i don't capitalize my
name...
i usually tell them i am in my e.e.cummings
phase... i believe it's more than that...
i also chose not to have a last name... for
several reasons...
after my last divorce, i looked at the list of last names i had to choose
from...
i realized that they all implied male ownership to me...
i didn't belong to any of my ex's and i certainly
didn't belong to my father any longer...
so i decided to drop the last name.....
i do not wish to imply membership to any family
or clan other than the human family...
my boyfriend calls me pet...
i like that...

of the affections adj. 1. cherished and indulged, a favorite.
in chat i am known as criatura...
it is an archetypal figure representing the wild feminine nature... Clarissa
Pinkola Estes in Women Who Run with the Wolves tells us, "the
word wild here is not used in its modern pejorative sense, meaning
out of control, but in its original sense, which means to live a natural
life, one in which the criatura, creature, has innate integrity

if you ask me what i do i will say i am a
writer/activist,
this is always followed by the question "what
does THAT mean?"
and i answer "it is wonderful to have ideas,
then it requires someone to put them
into action"
i try not to just talk the talk... i like
to walk the walk...
if you look at my business card, you will
see that i am an experienced foole....
this is another archetypal figure perhaps
most recognizable from tarot cards...
if you look at the card for the foole, you
will see that he seems to be on a great adventure... in fact, look closely...
he is having so much fun, he doesn't notice he is fixing to step off a
cliff into midair... i've lived my life a little like that... stumbling
into each new adventure with not a clue as to where it is leading...
that places me in alot of interesting situations, and makes me an experienced
foole...
if you question me about my faith, i will
tell you i am a mental scientist.....
i have studied the Science of Mind for nearly
12 years now...
it is not my intention to convert anyone from
their beliefs...
in a nutshell, Science of Mind teaches that
mind is the creative force in the universe.....
thoughts are indeed things.... i am
also partial to the holographic model of the universe....
perhaps my most important title of all is
that of grandmother rock...
nearly two years ago, in a sweaty delivery
room filled with dancing deadhead children,
i witnessed the birth of my daughter's daughter...
i was honored to snip the umbilical cord,
freeing another beautiful soul into this earth
plane..... on that day, i accepted the matriarchy
of my own clan, the Rock Clan..... there
is nothing that pleases me more
than to see the people my three daughters are becoming.....
i feel they have much to offer to the world community...
all three are published writers, and you will
be able to see their worldviews
