My Father began researching his ancestors close to twelve years ago. He compiled lists of names, dates, and any other info he could get out of relatives and thier memories. Then he took a break. When I entered college (four years ago, the fall of 1996) I caught the genealogy bug and picked up where Dad left off. Since then, building on his data, I've been able to confirm my roots back to The Progenitor of my Vaught name, Johan Paulus Vogt. Johan Paulus, or "Gran' Pappy" Vogt as he has affectionately been named, was born around 1680 in Frankfurt, Germany. He and his family immigrated in 1733 to Pennsylvania, and on October 11, 1733, they landed in Philadelphia. By 1735, he had purchased a land grant in Orange County, Virginia and he and his family (his wife Maria Katrina, and their 4 children) set up a homestead on 640 acres of prime land in what is today Madison County, Virginia. The story goes on, but that's all I have time to put on the page right now---I'll be updating everything soon!
