WHEN
FREEDOM , EQUALITY, and DIGNITY are UNDERMINED PERPETUALLY,
The Indignant seeks redress:
"BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY."
F.E.D.U.P. is an acronym which means 'When "Freedom, Equality and Dignity are Undermined Profoundly," the indignant seeks redress "By Any Means Necessary." ' Growing up in the Caribbean, I was told that Malcolm was the violent one, while Dr. King was the peaceful one. But no one could point to any violence that Malcolm had perpetrated and few saw the messages that Malcolm was sending. It is evident in the representation of his glasses. I have used the sickle and the scimeter - his foresight- to represents his vision for black people to help themselves and be self-sufficient while the scimeter represents his believe in self-defense; not turning the other cheek. Here he appears in front of a mosque and the decoration of the door serves as his halo. The two belligerant looking muslims represent the false belief that Malcolm was a violent man. His initials M X are etched between the tiles in front of the mosque.
