"I've been to the mountaintop, and I've looked over and I've seen the promised land. I may not get there with you, but I know that we as a people will get to the promised land." -April 3rd, 1968, Martin Luther King Jr.
Perched on the mountaintop, the viewer perceives the sanctified spirit of Dr Martin Luther King Jr. Haloed by the setting sun, he is seen here in the twilight of his terrestial existance, transfigured as he anticipates his eventual physical absence from the advent of this promised land. As he ponders the plausibility of the prophecy of the promised land, he clotches in his right hand the fleur-de-lis of beatification.
