The Vampyre
by Debra Spencer
The memories of life are passed away
My essense; my fibre have gone
This tormented body of mine will stay
And sleeps upon each new dawn.
I wonder if mankind can truly discern
The demon that possesses my soul
As a child of the night you would surely learn
What it means you are free, you are whole.
I've seen in three centuries since first I became
A creature whose life...a nefarious game
Not of my choosing I'd have you believe
If I could find death ; my soul would relieve.
Yet you mortal fools with your life and desire
Turn my stomach will gall..set my cursed brain afire
You have no conception how lucky you are
I am dead with the sun and alive by the star.
Do you think I enjoy the passion to kill?
If I could only stop by the force of my will
And I too know love and forbidden ecstacy
Happiness only in my own fantasy.
You gullible fool, don't know what to say
You don't understand, don't really see
To believe you must see and to see you must pay
So I invite you tonight for a visit and ...tea.
