This painting was done while she was in college in 1988 at Mason Gross School of the Arts. She had just moved into her studio at the newly refurbished art school which was pristine in it's white-washed glory. Not for long. Windy created the checkered effect under the arm by spraying paint through one of the new flourscent light grates, ruining it in the process. It was down hill for the building from there. I remember contributing to one artist's painting by running down the hall with handfulls of paint and flinging them at a canvas.
Her idea for the painting came from a Rolling Stone article about Sid Vicious. A picture of him shooting heroin backstage was the inspiration.
Windy revisited the style of this painting when she painted a portrait of Kurt Cobain following his death titled, Ghost of Kurt. This is posted here, so that others may get to see Windy's unique talent. I hope to create a few more links for her soon.
