COOL SHIT

This is my list of cool shit. These are just the things I recommend checking out. Obviously, no-one (except me) will like everything listed and a lot of it is pretty obscure - but if you get a chance, check some of it out. You’ll like it!

BOOKS

The Beauty Myth , Naomi Woolf - Exposes the oppression of more than half of the world’s population & justifies modern day feminism

Rap, Race & Reality, Chuck D - The first book from Public Enemy’s frontman, Chuck D. Discusses the role of black people in entertainment, sports, politics and race relations.

Revelation X: The 'BoB' Apocryphon: Subgenius Foundation - Probably one of the most fucked up & funniest book you'll ever read. The Subgenius' are the first for profit religion that aims to only harvest your slack....

1984, George Orwell - THE original premonition of the totalitarian state. Mixes good lessons with a good story. Interesting to read now to see how much closer we’re getting with each passing day

Che Guevara: A Revolutionary Life, Jon Lee Anderson - Probably the best biography I’ve read about Che. This guy was the only biographer who had access to Che’s personal diaries.

The Handmaids Tale, Margaret Atwood - Kind of a feminist 1984 but it sheds light on a new enemy & reminds people that it could happen here as well.

The Prince, Machiavelli - Learn how they think. A guide to usurping & maintaining power.

The Conspirators, D.J. Goodspeed - Analyzes various people’s revolutions & determines the necessary conditions for success.

Alice In Wonderland, Lewis Carrol - The first piece of psychadelic literature? Kiddie porn? Social Satire? All of the above?

Manufacturing Consent, Noam Chomsky - Modern brainwashing & the persuasion of opinion through economic pressures and media control.

On The Road, Jack Kerouac - The essential text to understanding the beat community.

Player Pianno, Kurt Vonnegut Jr. - His warning to the engineer's and scientists of the future. Could machines replace man? This book is thought provoking, and funny - read it.

Fifth Business: Robertson Davies - Part 1 of the Deptford trilogy, Fifth Business follows a man's life as he realizes his lot in life. Shows us that total good is no better than total evil. Balance is the key...

MUSIC

Public Enemy: Nation Of Millions or Fear Of A Black Planet - The best rap group ever. The best beats, the best lyrics, the best message. Shit, even the best album covers.

Dead Kennedy’s: Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables - The best punk album? Maybe. The best ideas? For sure. DK is one of the original political punks, check em out

Dead Kennedy’s: Bedtime For Democracy - One of DK’s best albums. Post trial record, so a lot of new ideas - especially when it comes to the music industry.

Atari Teenage Riot: Burn Berlin Burn - "Riot Sounds Produce Riots" - and these are definitely the sounds of riot. Think of Prodigy mixed with Napalm Death mixed with Super Mario.

Gwar: Scumdogs Of The Universe - Probably the best GWAR album ever made. Buy it fool.

NWA: Greatest Hits - The most hardcore gangster rappers ever combine the sounds of murder with the dopest beats & the hardest lyrics to bring us an amazing fucking album.

Sublime: 40oz to freedom - Although now defunct, Sublime’s one of the best punk/ska/reggae/rap band’s ever and this is their best album by far.

The Clash: Combat Rock - The Clash. Nuff Said. This is them at the pinnacle of their career. The noticeable Asian influences help to make this one of the best albums ever.

Violent Femmes: Add It Up - A collection of the best of the violent femmes. They are such an amazing band - combine The Velvet Underground, The Ramones and a mean digeridoo...

America Must Be Destroyed: GWAR - Either this or Scumdogs Of The Universe. GWAR is both an orgy of sound, blood and cum as well as a romp through the nihilist desires of our psyche

Nailbomb: Proud To Commit Commercial Suicide - One of the best thrash metal bands to ever have existed. Luckily they broke up before the man could cash in - buy this CD if you can find it.

Ice-T: Original Gangster - The best in Gangsta rap from the OG himself. Crazy stupid dope fly pimp shit - with bitches n suckaz to boot

Gil Scott Heron: The Revolution Will Be Televised - He coined that term in one of his most popular songs. If you like Black Power and you like Funk - check this out

The Specials: Singles Collection - A collection of the best of The Specials song. Non of that Special AKA bullshit or any of that muzac shit they tried to pass off later on.

Propagandhi: How To Clean Everything - The first full length release from the punk Winnepegan Vegans. This is political punk at it's best - KKKanadian style..

Louis Armstrong: The Decca Years, Vol 1 - Satchimo at his best - this CD has a lot of his good tracks. But if anyone knows a Louis song called 'Africa' lemme know - I've been looking for it for years now..

The Crass: Stations Of The Cross - The best of late 70's British punk - these guys were the fathers of Chumbawamba. Their lyrics + their hard british sound make this a great album

Butthole Surfers: Electric Worm Saloon - Fucked up is all I can call this band. They can make experimental music sound really good and this is a fine example

The Velvet Underground: Best Of - These guys emerged from the Andy Warhol scene of the 60's to bring out a new sound that shocked the shit out of everyone - even in those days! damn.
