WHO: Patti Hearst

WHAT'S HER STORY: This diva of the revolution is the media octopus, William Hearst (who was a major player in getting hemp / marijuana made illegal). Patti was studying at the University of California when she was kidnapped by a group of American revolutionaries known as the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA). The SLA sought to liberate the oppressed people from the clutches of KKKapitalist tyranny. They figured kidnapping the daughter of a media icon would get them some attention....they were right. Amerikkka was outraged and horrified when they learned a bunch of crackpot revolutionaries had kidnapped a nice wholesome Amerikkkan girl....that sort of thing just didn't happen to rich people! But nothing could have prepared them for what they saw on April 15 1974. That day, the picture you see here was on the front page of all the newspapers. Patti Hearst, the poor innocent christian white girl, had joined the SLA and posing with her machine gun and black beret, had declared war on "the fascist insect which preys upon the life of the people". After a while Patti was distributing her own communiques to the people and participating in bank robberies and revolutionary training excercises. But shortly after her bank robbery, she and the rest of the SLA were apprehended, but her revolutionary career was not totally in vain. This famous picture became the centrefold for radical young people all over the world. It also goes to show how strong revolutionary fever can be when the grand-daughter of Big Willy Hearst can be infected. That's why Patti Hearst is a revolutionary heartthrob.
