Imagine a reserve

Imagine a reserve. This is the only place where you can watch television. This is the only place where you can buy a hamburger. This is the only place where there are computers, automobiles or microwaves. This is the only place where you can read Time magazine or see old Melrose episodes. The reserve is sealed off from the world by walls and a small customs office. Where a well groomed policeman keeps you in your cage. This is your home.

Beyond your home is the world. The world is their home. They who came to your land, conquered you, herded you and placed you in this zoo. They came so quickly. You resisted at first, but you were so outmatched that there was never a chance. They soon made themselves masters of the land. Deals were made, you tried to live with their presence. But they had other ideas. You were pushed and pushed until finally you had nothing left. You were not a citizen in their eyes. The lands you called home now wore their flags. They store you used to work in, now you're not allowed to shop at. The school you once played football for now doesn't teach your kind. The frredoms you once took for granted didn't apply to you anymore.

But they took pity. Designated a remote barren region for the preservation of your lesser kind. Called it a reserve, but it was more of a prison. Threw your shattered race into it's confines and considered everything even. Most of your neighbours aim for self destruction in one form or another. There isn't a college because no one on the reserve ever got that far. This is the last remanant of your once proud civilization. But you can't complain. Because they've always got a quick answer. You get free cigarettes.
