Sublime - 40 oz. To Freedom - Recorded 1992
This album is a compilation of Sublime's best songs (why doesn't it have 'Love is What I Got'?) and was the best album to be released before their lead singer died. His death was a terrible loss though, cuz this album is so much better than their newer stuff! The variety of this album totally blew me away, allowing it to become one of my most played CD's in the past few months. The style and pace of the CD changes so frequently and so smoothly: from free style to mic jams to West Coast 3 chord punk to Blue Beat ska covers. There's punk, ska, reggae, hip-hop, pop, sampling....everything!! The only complaint I have about this CD is that every time I sit down to listen to it, I get so wrapped up in the music - I can't get anything else accomplished. If you don't have this CD yet - you don't know from music.
