Thanksgiving Day is a time to offer thanks
Of Family Gatherings and Holiday Meals.
A Time for turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie,
Indian corn, and holiday parades.

Giving Thanks
For the hay and the corn and the wheat that is reaped,
For the labor well done, and the barns that are heaped,
For the sun and the dew and the sweet honeycomb,
For the rose and the song and the harvest brought home..
Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving!
For the trade and the skill and the wealth in our land,
For the cunning and strength of the workingman's hand,
For the good that our artists and poets have taught,
For the friendship that hope and affection have brought..
Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving!
For the homes that with purest affection are blest,
For the season of plenty and well deserved rest,
For our country extending from sea unto sea,
The land that is known as the "Land of the Free"..
Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving!

We thank you Lord
for friends and family who do not abandon us even across the many miles that separate us;
for public servants who serve our needs and guard our safety;
for brave leaders who dare to act upon their dreams to make this country more just and responsible;
for scientists and doctors who take from our lives as much toil and suffering as is possible;
for your who have drive and energy to work at difficult tasks;
for the elderly whose wisdom and service have made our lives richer;
for our freedoms to live life abundantly without constraints that would pollute our souls;
for the startling beauty in this world which challenges and binds our actions toward worthy causes, while rebuilding our spirit;
and for Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and worked to bring out the best in us. Amen
