TASHREE:~

1. The literal translation of this shai'r would be as follows:
   No news of meeting nor the sight of beauty; been some time since/(or is this) the harmony of the eyes and the ears.
2. When translated properly I think it is pretty self-explanatory except that there is a little twist in words which leads us to an alternative meaning. The more obvious meaning would be that he has not seen or heard a thing of beauty in a very long time. He is longing for a harmonius unification of his senses, which probably relates to the sight and voice of his beloved.
3. Secondly it conveys a more subtle meaning in that he is very deluded(intoxicated or otherwise) and there is no correlation between his senses. The ' ki ' is the mystery word here which reveals other possibilities. It has been too long for him to differentiate between reality and illusion and at this moment in time he is not sure whether the ' ashtee' is a hallucination or if his beloved is really standing before him.
