1. The literal translation of this shai'r would be as follows:
   Oh new chess-board/thought arriving fresh upon the wind of the heart, be warned if you are greedy for a feast!
2. Ghalib is referring to his thoughts as a chess-board where every new arriving thought changes the game. He wants to warn this new thought not to be greedy by demanding too much attention and drifting him away from what he is working on. He is trying to filter his thoughts and only allow certain kinds of emotions to seep through. I think he is in a state where he is being bombarded by all kinds of conflicting emotions and he is unsure as to what he wants to feel. Every seperate emotion changes his temperament. He has no control over his heart and the emotions that flow from within.
