The Great American Indian

The American Indian stood tall and brave,
as he fought for his rights and his life he gave.
We drove some from their lands and told
them it was for the best,
then we slaughtered and killed most of the rest.
We should all remember the trail of tears,
their hearts were full of sorrow, anger and fears.
These great Americans were pushed on to land
that was barren and rough.
Food and blankets, there were never enough.
They spent long winters, hungry and cold,
but things would get better, by the white man
they were told.

These were a great people, but their spirit was broke,
and the white man laughed and made it a joke.
So don't forget the Great American Indian who gave up all,
that you could call yourself an American,
be free and stand tall.
