Fraser Gallery is currently showing paintings by three artists, David Febland, Barbara Januszkiewicz and Hai-ou Hou. Of the three, Febland stands out. His oil paintings of New York City catch all the hustle, bustle and in-your-face vibrancy of the Big Apple, in a fresh, realistic style.

There are elements of the pre-World War I, Ashcan School in his colorful depictions of everyday street life. But Febland uses high voltage colors and a much freer brush in these small paintings to take the pulse of Manhattan in the late 1990s.
