For this season, there are a lot of new talents ready to rock the soccer scene. Andy van der Meyde, Rafael van der Vaart, Johnny Heitinga all grown at De Toekomst.
Besides the players listed above, Ajax has several other players under contract, but they are loaned to other clubs. These players are: Jason Culina (De Graafschap), Darl Douglas (HFC Haarlem), Youssouf Hersi (NEC), Pascal Heije (RBC Roosendaal), Pius Ikedia (FC Groningen), Richard Knopper (Aris FC - Greece), Ruud Kras (FC Zwolle), Didi Longuet (HFC Haarlem), Aaron Mokoena, Anthony Obodai, Kwame Quansah, Walker (all to GB Antwerpen), Mitchell Pique (RBC Roosendaal) and Cedric van der Gun (Willem II).
Jari Litmanen is back in Ajax. After three miserable seasons in Barcelona and Liverpool, he is back where he grew up, where he won a lot of medals, and where he is adored. His contract is until December 2002, with the option for another one and a half year extension. All the Ajax fans are glad that he is back in the squad.
Some players are still contracted but not given a squad number. These players are: Ferdi Vierklau, Tijani Babangida, Brutil Hose, John Nieuwenburg.
Tim de Cler has been sold to AZ Alkmaar. He didn't have a place in the squad for this year, so he opted to move to another club.
Nando Rafael has left Ajax for Herta Berlin SC. Because the Dutch government failed to issue a work permit for him, he has to go and Ajax has arranged a deal with Herta Berlin. Rafael is one of the hottest talents in Ajax, and we are sad to see him leave under such circumstances. Hopefully he will be back in Amsterdam again one day.
Some youth players are waiting in line to make their entry in the senior squad. Among them Stefano Seedorf (cousin of Clarence) and Wesley Sneijder.

Just for your information. I used to go to the same elementary school as Dennis Bergkamp. In fact, we lived in the same area of Amsterdam, Bos en Lommer. But he was 6 years older, so I didn't
know him at that time. And I used to be neighbours with Rody Turpijn (a product of the Ajax youth system, now plays in De Graafschap). I was in the same class with his big brother, he was in
the same class with my lil' sister. I used to play at his house. Just a little Ajax fact....
Even though I once lived in Amsterdam, I still haven't watch Ajax perform live. I only can watch them on TV. So it's pretty obvious that my dream is to watch them play live. Better yet if it's
in the Arena.
