International Intervention

Conflict Resolution

The Purpose of Intervention

The basic purpose of intervention is peace.  The principle of the current UN operation is to achieve international peace.  Political stability, peace, is necessary for increasing economic transaction.  Politically, to keep status quo is also beneficial for great powers in that they can keep their current political and economic advantage.  In addition, because of recent growing influence of mass media in the developed countries, protection of human rights in neiborhood has been regarded as more important for even people in peaceful society.  Moreover, refugees from chaotic regions also a cause of serious concern in neighboring countries because, in the long term, the current ethnic conflicts in developing countries might cause  social inequality and instability domestically even in developed countries, having tended to be more multinationalistic.
