WOOHOO!!! Man, was this amazing! Since this was such a special event     for me (I think it would be for ANY average citizen), I decided to throw a page together     devoted exclusively to the experience. The four people shown above are the "Diamond     in the Morning" crew at MIX 107.3. Jack is the host, Stacey is the traffic     extraordinare, Barbara does the news, and Jimmy is assists in the music selection and     throws in a comment here and there -- kind of like a side-kick. I THINK he is the     producer. Any one of them can speak up at any time. They don't just stick to their     specific job assignments. In my sample below, you will hear Jack and Stacey the most.     Barbara threw in a few comments, including a couple during my interview, specifically. You     only hear Jimmy once when he asked if any Lionel Richie music was going to be played that     morning.
My mother got up at 6am to record all of this for me so     we should all thank her because you wouldn't have been able to hear any of this if it     weren't for her! Thanks mom!!!
What I did was take excerpts from the tape she made (which was in order     of appearance of course) and mix up certain funny moments with my interview in the middle.     I also have a traffic and weather report in there. I just wanted to create a     "snapshot" of the day. It gives you more of a feel for how special the     experience was. I strongly urge you to listen to it. There is a lot to laugh at in there     and I really think you'll enjoy it. One thing to remember: if it sounded to you like it     was a lot of fun, this was just 13 minutes out of the 3 1/2 hours I was there.
Another thing I would like to mention about the interview is that I was     (understandably) very nervous. I was really nervous when I started the interview and then     I had relaxed a lot by the middle of it, then I got real nervous again when Jack asked me     about the kind of woman I was looking for. I totally blew the shit out of that     opportunity. My mind just went blank. It was the only thing that I regret out of the     entire day. He did help me out a lot though. What I SHOULD have done was print out my     "about me" page and take it with me to the studio. I just didn't know what to     expect and the guy I talked to about coming in (Dave Lynn) a couple days earlier made it     sound like getting on the air was a big IF. I'll tell ya one thing -- If I'm not with     anyone when we have the reunion, I will be prepared for sure.
When it was all over at the end of the day, it was quite a let-down. It     was like having a grand-ol' time with a bunch of good friends and then *BAM* you never see     them again. I was told that they want to do a reunion. I don't know when or if that will     be on the air or not. I will go for sure regardless, and I will certainly record as much     of it as I can if it's on the air.

I though it would be a good idea to include the diary entry I posted two     nights before the big day so here it goes...

MY GOD, THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE!!! I was     on the beltway on my way to work this morning with John (my turn to drive this week) and     we were listening to a local radio station 107.3 (The Diamond in the Morning show). Jack     Diamond made an announcement that he had seven "wonderful" women he was looking     for dates for and that if any guys out there were interested to call the station. I     thought about it real hard. When I got to work I found myself pacing back and forth as I     was thinking about it. Then I realized I would be stupid NOT to try it. So, I gave them a     call. I think I talked to a guy named...aww I cant remember.. Anyway, he said they had ONE     spot left. I asked him what I need to do and he was like "Well, what do you do for a     living?". I gave him a good description, he said it sounded interesting, and then he     asked what I liked to do for fun and I told him about my clubbing exploits and that I like     movies and just about anything but illegal drugs. I told him that I would have to check     with my friend that I carpool with to make sure there wasn't a problem and I could call     him back shortly. John didn't have a problem with driving himself to work on Friday but he     thought I was crazy for what I was doing. Well, I went to call them back and then, guess     what??? I FORGOT THE NUMBER!!! AAAHH!! I tried the number I THOUGHT I called and it just     rang and rang and rang... So, I tried calling all different combos of what I thought the     number was and no dice.. I finally got really frustrated and just tried the first number     again.. It rang and rang and rang and then I got an answer! It was right number all along!     God, I'm such and idiot sometimes. It was the same guy I spoke with. I told him I could do     it and he said he had to check if there was still a spot open...(heart stopper) There was!     So, he gave me directions to the studio... This is the deal.. I'm to be there at 5:30AM     (oh Lord..) and I will be there until 9AM. It will be me, 6 other guys, the 7 women we're     to meet, and Jack Diamond and another DJ. Since there will be so many of us, all of us may     not have time to talk on the air -- but we will be there for 3 hours so I am hoping for     the best. Then, that night at 7:30PM the two hosts of the morning show (Jack Diamond and     the other guy) are taking us 7 guys and the 7 women out to dinner together!!! AMAZING!!!     FUCKIN' AMAZING!!! They have a web page but they don't have an internet real audio feed,     unfortunately. You can take a look at the page if you want, its
HERE.
Wish me luck!! Hope I haven't broken too many hearts.     :-) You will CERTAINLY hear how things went. I am currently working on my latest entry     about the last few weeks -- should be done in a few days.

The Interview

Yeah, it would be real cool and all if you could just click on a link here and my voice is magically played through your speakers. Well, guess what?? I think I managed to get it to work! Click on the Real Audio link below and if you have Real Audio installed, the player should recognize a Real Audio file coming through and launch the player and you can listen to the interview without doing anything else! If the quality isn't good enough for you, you can download the MP3 version of it. I'm afraid it will require a bit more effort than the Real Audio version but, really, it's not that big of a deal at all. The only 'extra' thing you have to do is download an MPEG Layer 3 (MP3) player (500+k file size) if you don't already have one. Its REAL simple..
1) If you don't have an MPEG3 player (Winamp), Goto this link and then click on the option to download the player to your computer. Don't forget to place it in a directory where you can find it... I gave you a link to Winamp's home page instead of a specific file because the program is updated frequently and that would require me to update my page more frequently (and I'm too damn lazy for that).
2) Next, execute the file (its a program) and install the player using its defaults -- just click OK and let it do its thing. It then MAY ask you about registering file-types.. Again, just use the defaults and move on. Now that you have the player.. You need the interview (duh)...
3)Click here to get the interview (3 MB) Special note: If you have been to this page before, hit your 'refresh/reload' button!
Click here to listen to the Real Audio version
Incase you are wondering, the specs are 22.5khz, 16bit, mono, 12min. 45sec.. It's half the quality of the sound of a CD. But, since it was recorded to my computer through a crappy walkman of mine, the sound clarity varies a bit. It actually sounds really good -- you probably won't care. I'm just a perfectionist when it comes to things like this. You will probably notice slight sound quality changes from one part of the recording to the other.
