Don't Drink the Water

In this song, the character singing is a heartless, cruel character. The song itself shows exactly how people like this feel, and shows exactly what they do. I see characters like this as say...government, leaders either religious or national, or everyday people. What's the lesson learned? Evil is any being that sees itself as as being greater than the common fellow, it isolates itself and lives under false notions about its supremacy and about its "happiness" in being alone (eg. "I'll build heaven and call it home"). What is the fastest, most cruel way to kill a civilization? Poison the water.

Come out come out
No use in hiding
Hello there, there's no use resisting
Come now come now
Can you not see
There's no place here
What were you expecting?
Fool for thinking I have decency
No room for both
Just room for me
I'm going to take over around here
So I will lay your arms down

Bend you to my will
Yes I will call this home
And take over what was yours

Away away
You have been banished
Go away, no need for you
Your land is gone
And given me
I've already taken what's yours
And here I will spread my wings
Now I will fill this place with my things (wings being a generally pleasant metaphor, opposite in this case as any disillusioned evil character living under false notions would use for himself)
Yes I will call this home
And call it my home
What's that you say?
You feel the right to remain
You say you think I have no right to do this?
Then stay and I will bury you
Then stay and I'll take pleasure in making you miserable
What's that you say
Your father's spirit still lives in this place
You say you feel like this is no place of mine?
I will silence you
I'll do whatever it takes to get rid of you

Here's the hitch
Your horse is leaving
I'm tossing your things out, better go follow
Don't miss your boat
It's leaving now
Get out Bubba
And as you go I will spread my wings
And as you leave I'll take over
Yes I will call this home
I have no time to justify to you
I'm too important to give you reasons why
Fool you're blind, move aside for me
You're stupid for thinking and not just leaving
All I can say to you my new neighbor
New neighbor because you're outta here, man
Is you must move on or I will bury you
Better move on before I take drastic measures

Now as I rest my feet by this fire
Now as I live here
Those hands once warmed here
Any hands that were here before me
I have retired them
I have forced them away
I can breathe my own air
I share nothing
I can sleep more soundly
I'll live alone without noticing or caring
Upon these poor souls
About the worries of those I've pushed away
I'll build heaven and call it home
(Heaven or hell?)
'Cause you're all dead now
Because I've killed this place of everything but my own things

(And although I live alone)
And I live with my justice
I live with my selfish ways of thinking that I'm only right
And I live with my greedy need
I live with my wants of what others have
Oh I live with my no mercy
I live without pity for anyone but myself
And I live with my frenzied feeding
I live with my insatiable for more and more things
I live with my hatred
And I live with my jealousy
I live with the fear that what I've made mine might be used by anyone else
Oh I live with the notion
I live with the false notion
That I don't need anyone but me

Don't drink the water
Don't drink the water
There's blood in the water
Don't drink the water
