6
oz. of White Chocolate cut into pieces (Bakers makes a great brand
or use Wilton brand melting candy pieces, for making homemade chocolates
- you can find them in Wal-Mart with the candy molds (usually
in the craft dept.) or at any craft store - also most grocery stores
sell candy coating this works also)
2
Teaspoons shortening (shortening helps the chocolate
set up)
2/3
cup finely crushed peppermint candies (or use nuts)
12
Pretzel Rods
Line
cookie sheet with waxed paper.
Melt
chocolate and shortening in a medium saucepan over LOW heat (or in a double
boiler)...... be sure to stir so that the chocolate won't over heat on
the bottom of the pan.
** If you do not use a double boiler then try this tip, once the chocolate is melted - pour into a bowl, in another dish (one that the bowl will fit in) put hot water, then place the bowl with the chocolate into this water - be sure NOT to get any water into the chocolate **
Put candy or nuts onto a plate (you can cover plate with waxed paper for easy clean up)
Roll
pretzel rod in the chocolate, be sure you get a good coating about 1/2
to 2/3 of the rod covered, allow the excess to drip off; then roll in the
crushed candy (or nuts).
Place
on the lined cookie sheet; let stand until set.
You
can decorate a clean empty potato chip can (like Pringles) and fill it
with these treats!
Make
a decadent treat for the choc-o-holic in your life!!!
