* Plastic Spoons
* 6 oz. of
Chocolate ~ white or milk chocolate (Bakers makes a great brand
or use Wilton brand melting candy pieces, for making homemade chocolates
- you can find them in Wal-Mart with the candy molds (usualy
in the craft dept.) or at any craft store - also most grocery stores
sell candy coating this works also)
* 2 Teaspoons
of Shortening (needed to set the chocolate)
Extracts as
desired (i.e. - vanilla, rasberry, almond, hazlenut)
Line a cookie sheet with waxed paper.
Melt the chocolate and the shortening together over low heat, stir to be sure the chocolate does not scorch on the bottom of the pan. (or use a double boiler)
Add a FEW (one or two)
drops of flavoring (keep in mind that this will be used in coffee so think
of flavors that go with coffee, French Vanilla is the best or Hazelnut
- you may want to sample for flavor intensity, you can always add more!
(**Note the flavoring
is optional - just "plain" chocolate is always great! Add a few drops of
vanilla extract to enhance the chocolate flavor)
Remove from heat source (if you have used a pan then you may have to return the chocolate to a low heat to remelt)
Dip the "bowl" of the spoons
into the melted flavored chocolate, then put them on the lined sheet.
Allow to set (for at least an hour) then dip again!
Allow to set overnight
then wrap individually - use Reynolds clear (or colored) wrap and ribbon
for a beautiful finishing touch!
