Take a good sized thick
skinned orange and mark the skin with a knife into quarters. Peel
these away from the fruit with a knife, then scrape the white inner side
of the peel as clean as you can.
Then cut into small squares
(about 3/4 of an inch in size).
Into each square push
a stick of clove. Then allow to dry - store in a closed jar or tin.
Drop into hot tea!
Sugared Mint Leaves
Pick mint before flowers bloom. Select medium sized leaves (not the large near the bottom of the plant). Wash the leaves then dry on a paper towel.
In a dish slightly beat
1 (one) egg white, also have a small plate of sugar ready.
Dip each leaf into egg
then into the sugar.
Spread finished leaves
on a sheet of foil, out into oven at lowest setting until dry.
Can be eaten as candy
- or used in hot or cold tea!
Lemon Sugar-cubes
Take one fresh lemon and a box of sugar cubes. Cut the lemon in half and squeeze juice
into a small bowl. Then quickly dip sugar cubes into the juice -
allowing only half of the cube to soak up the juice. DO NOT LEAVE THE SUGAR
CUBE IN THE JUICE TO LONG - or it will break down/dissolve.
Allow cubes to sit
and dry fully, store in an air tight container (you may even want to put
in a refrigerator).
Serve with hot or cold
tea - arrange on a plate with wedges of fresh lemons.
