Icon Instructions
Use with caution!!!
1.
First, find a picture you like on the web. There are quite a few good movie images on my postcard image page. When you find one, right click on it. Choose "view image." The address in the location bar when the image comes up is the address for the image. You will need to either copy this down--or use copy/paste (highlight with mouse; press control and C to copy; when ready to paste press control and V).
I'm choosing this great Spencer Tracy picture:
Notice that it's rather large for an icon....later I will show you how to size it down for the room.
2.
Next, go to the entry page for TCM. In the spot where you would put your nickname, you will need to enter the following code EXACTLY as it's typed here. You will replace the red with the address that you copied and you will surround it with brackets ( < > ).
IMG SRC = address of your picture
As I mentioned before, you will need to put a "<" bracket to begin with. Before you put the final ">" bracket to close it, you will need to put information to size the picture. Usually, the dimensions 100 pixels by 100 pixels works well for the room. Anything bigger would be too big. So, right after the address, you will need to add the following, replacing the red with your dimensions:
width = 85 height = 100
and close with a ">" bracket. You may need to play with it a bit so that the dimensions look right.
3.
To add a border, before you put the final bracket, you can add the following:
border = 2
My picture would look like this:
LISA
The final phrasing for my picture would look like this...with brackets surrounding it instead of asterisks, of course!
*IMG SRC = http://www.oocities.org/SouthBeach/Breakers/ 4287/tracy.gif width = 85 height = 100 border = 2* LISA
4.
Now, all you have to do is add your name immediately after the final bracket! That way, your nickname shows up right next to the picture in the room....so people will know who has the terrific icon!:)
IMPORTANT NOTE!!!
An animated icon, while adorable, is NOT recommended...in fact, we discourage it! They tend to slow down the room and can cause chatters with older computers and WebTV users to be unable to join us.:( Please be considerate!
