My Confirmation Story

May 31, 1998

I had to get up at 6:00 AM, which was pretty hard. The day started out ok. I went downstairs and watched my Matchbox 20 tape until I had to get ready. I had to dress up, and if you don't know me well, I'm NOT a dress up kind of person. I only wear a dress or skirt about twice a year. Pathetic, I know. I'm into comfort...that's all. My grandma had taken me to the shoe store to get some white shoes. They fit fine in the store, but when it was time to really wear them, oh no! They left big red marks on my feet. Other than that, the clothes didn't bother me all that much.

Now on to the funny, kinda cool part...

A big storm hit our little city about 7:00 that morning. Then the electricity went out. I was already dressed and ready to go, so I didn't really think anything of it. There were thunderstorm warnings and tornando watches by this time. We had to leave, even though the radio said not to leave home. We went on to pick up my great-grandma. We couldn't help but notice the trees all over the streets! The storm made a big mess, needless to say.

At the church...

We got to the church. My mom said "I hope we have power" and that very second the church lights went on! Pretty cool huh? It was raining really hard and we had alot to carry. Once we got into the church, the lights began to flicker. Then the lights in one hall went out, followed by the other. The electricity was out! Everyone laughed and assumed it would go on before the service started. It was around 8:00, and the service was to start at 8:30. By 8:15, everyone started to kind of freak out, except me of course! I was walking around telling everyone how cool it was! The custodian started getting candles and flashlights together. People started to come, and we were kinda surprised. The weather was really bad!

The service starts...

Yes, we had it by candles and flashlights. It was really neat. Dr. Bob and I had met about how it we were going to do it, and it went well. The sermon was great. The theme of the service was miracles. It was all great. I really enjoyed it. It was a long road there, but I won't get into that. We sang cool songs...it just all rocked!

After the service...

Still no electricity! That means no coffee! There was punch though. I talked to everyone and got my picture taken a bunch of times. I also took those hurtful shoes off!!!!

Thanks

Thanks go out to my family, Jo, Margie, church friends, religion teachers and principals past and present, and most of all Dr. Bob! The theme of the service was miracles...and he was my miracle!!! THANK YOU!!!!!
