a prayer to god

god, make me blind to the pain I see
hiding in their eyes
the pain belongs to them alone
they caused it with their lies
god, make me deaf to the unkind words
they might speak to me
I won't believe those words, but there's one who might
that little girl inside of me
god, give me the strength to stand up tall
and show them that I'm strong
strong enough I'll not crawl back
and say "I'm sorry...I was wrong"
god, there's one more thing I ask of you
give them courage to face the past
maybe then they'll accept the blame
and my pain will end at last
