why do we cast aside and waste so much
destroying while we roam this earth
seeking knowledge to things unknown
while rarely rejoicing the simple miracle of birth
the answers we seek
are to questions unknown
we miss out on their childhood
but don't realize it until they've grown
where has all the time gone
and how was it all spent
you can't go back and try again
and why wonder where it went
what was...is gone
what will be...is what we seek
a hunger to know what lies ahead
to glimpse the future, just a little peek
why can't we slow down and enjoy the now
before it quickly becomes the past
the future will always be there
but the now will never last
it's just a moment...here and gone
fleeting through space and time
just as these words are really thoughts
just passing through my mind
