1999
Unified

National Champion
Greg
Wilson

I started
armwrestling in 1994 at a Yukon Jack Tournament. I've won State
titles in Illinois, Michigan, Nebraska, Iowa, Kentucky, and
Missouri. I attended the World Championship in 1998(Thunderbay,
Canada) and I took 3rd left handed at 154 pounds..
I started out
getting beat by everybody armwrestling. My brother was right
handed, he killed me armwrestling. My other brother who was left
handed, killed me also. Both of them outweighed me by 30+lbs. My
goal was to beat them and i've managed to beat both of them now.
I've always wanted
a National Championship, but it was like chasing an elusive
butterfly. Well, now I've finally reached one of my goals. But
not without help from a lot of really nice people along the way.
Starting with the guys I practice with(Craig Wirth, Jeff Bradley,
Scott Golovon, Bill Sinks, Troy Weeden, Jerome Moore, and Aidas
Paliskis), thank you all so much!!! I couldn't have done it
without their help. And thanks to all the other armwrestlers
willing to give me advice about improving my technique. Leonard
Harkless is a master of technique. Karen Bean is the queen of
technique. I thank all of you for helping me become a better
armwrestler. There are so many more people who have helped also.
I do work out
about 5 times a week. 2 times a week armwrestling. If I could
give anyone advice about armwrestling it would be to train hard
and ask as many quesitions as you can when you go to armwrestling
tournaments. Not everyone is the same, but you will get a lot of
ideas. I still grab people like Allen Fisher, Cobra Rhodes, Dave
Patton and ask them for advice.
This Irish
Blessing was used at my fathers funeral a few months ago. So I've
decided to end this page with this final thought...
May the road
rise to meet you,
May the wind be
always at your back,
May the sun
shine warm upon your face,
And the rains
fall soft upon your fields,
And until we
meet again,
May God hold you
in the palm of his hand.
