Here is what the "Fire Protection Authority Australia", in conjunction with the "Queensland Fire And Rescue Authority" recommends we do to be prepared for and in case of a fire.
MAKE AN ESCAPE PLAN. .. Sit down with the family and plan how to get out, in case of fire. Lnow your escape. Talk to grandparents about their plans too.
INSTALL AND MAINTAIN SMOKE ALARMS. .. Smoke alarms warn you of a fire in time for you to escape. Always check the alarm regularly. Replace batteries if required.
STOP. DROP & ROLL. .. Everyone should know this rule. Do not run! If your clothes are on fire, stop where you are, drop down and cover your face with your hands and roll over and over, to smother the flames.
MATCHES AND LIGHTERS ARE NOT TOYS. .. These things are dangerous if you play with them. If you find them, give them to grown ups immediately.
CRAWL LOW IN SMOKE. .. Smoke is dangerous. You cannot breathe in it. if you have to escape through smoke, crawl very low to the floor and crawl quickly to the exit.
COOL THAT BURN. .. If you get burned, immediately place burn in cool water for 10-15 minutes and see a doctor.
DON`T GET TRAPPED. .. With bars on your house. Install smoke alarms to warn you of fire early so you can get out.
If you are in america, dial 911.
DON`T END UP LIKE THIS. .. Be sure to follow all the safety procedures and guidelines and hopefully your house won`t look like this.
