Laughter floated from the garden outside the Halloween house party. A general feeling of happiness and contentment hanging around. A young man, tall and blonde, wearing a long black trench coat, was carrying an angelic looking girl, threatening to playfully throw her in the pool. His clothing may have made him look quite sinister but for his facial features with rosy cheeks, full lips and sparkling blue eyes. She, also blonde and blue-eyed, was clothed in a long white dress flowing gently around her as she treaded on the lawn. The couple contrasted in clothing but complimented in looks. The alcohol was free but they wanted to enjoy each other without the influence.
The two walked off, away from the teasing crowd, down to a grove of Pine trees. They watched the moon running behind the clouds as if to hide away from all the eyes. They smelt the heavily scented pine needles and felt the soft drizzle of light rain. The air was dense with innocent love and animal lust. Glancing into each others eyes, they suddenly understood exactly what the others feelings were and their lips touched for the first time.
She lay in bed hearing the fire-bearing thunder roll and she thought about that one night. That one night where everything seemed as if it could last. Now it's just emptiness...emptiness that fills the mind and soul and resounds with an echo. It's been the longest night of her life filled with heart-wrenching pain and racking sobs of sorrow. The world never stopped turning but her life stopped living. The moon stopped hiding and running and was there for everyone to see. Now she's hiding, shutting herself in a black hole of depression.
For the first time she had experienced seemingly ever-lasting joy and what followed........LONELINESS
