This page is about my profession as a
Dental Assistant.
Right now, I am currently a student at
The Western School of Health and Business.
And if you live in the Western Pennsylvania
area, I would suggest taking this course at the Monroeville
Campus.
My teacher is a wonderful individual,
and she's really cool and makes our class a fun environment to learn in.
She is very well known, and has earned
a very high respect from Dentists and Dental Offices. Each assistant has
certain basic skills, there are many fields available within the practice.
But I will not bore you with that information.
The training of a Dental Assistant includes:
*Radiology, Infection Control, *Chairside
Assisting, *Dental Lab, *Office Management, *CPR, *Anatomy/Physiology,
*Psychology, *Pharmacology, *Oral Pathology, *Microbiology,
*Dental Specialties
The skills you will acquire:
* Exposing/Processing X-rays
* Taking Impressions/ Pouring Impressions
* Rubber Dam Placement
* Omnivac- bleaching splints, night guards
* Temporary Crowns
Bored yet?
I thought so!
Well, if you are in this field already,
currently a student, or thinking of becoming a student, this page should
prove to be very informative.
It is currently under construction, but
I have found links that link to many other links to keep you busy until
I can make this a "fun" page for everyone to enjoy.
I'm also searching desperately for images
of the mouth, ranging from periodontal diseases to normal healthy looking
teeth.
So if anyone who comes here knows where
some are, please email them to me!
This can be a fun environment to work
in, but you must remember exactly you are dealing with.
Not every mouth you will be looking into
is going to be healthy.
There are many different diseases out
there, and the ones you will be most susceptible to are Syphilis and HIV,
and the Hepatitis Viruses (HAV, HAB, HAC, HAD, & HAE).
Scary, huh?
Well, that's what happens when you work
in the medical field.
You have to be very cautious and use
proper sanitary procedures and use your protective equipment very wisely.
Well, that's enough talk for now.
