Entranced

She sits quietly next to the shoreline,
Staring at the darkness before her.
The moon and the stars illuminating the black velvet sky.
She closes her eyes and thinks of the sudden happiness that has warmed her heart.

For so long now,
She has been hurt, alone, afraid.
Afraid of ever allowing herself to love again.
Afraid of another fracture to her heart, and her soul.

She smiles softly at she fiddles with the necklace he had given her,
Wondering how she allowed this man
To sneak into all the little nooks and crannies of her life, her heart.
How his sweet smile can brighten any room.
How everytime he looks into her eyes, he entrances her.
How the slightest touch of his hand,
Can send shivers throughout her entire body.
How his kiss, oh, his soft, sensual kiss,
It fills her with a desire, a passion she had never felt before.

She wonders if this is only a dream.
That when she opens her eyes, this dream will end.
She dares herself to open them,
Feeling a rush of excitement.

He is still there, sitting right beside her.
Extending his hand as it interlocks with hers.
She rests her head upon his shoulder, taking a deep breath.

She prays that this feeling will never end,
That this precious man will never leave her side.
As they sit and watch the waves rolling onto the shore,
Together,
In their own little peace and quiet,
That they have found in each other.

This poem was written for Brian. He is very special to me even though we are no longer together as a couple. I still love him deeply, though I never had the chance to tell him.
