Fall Games
Let's Play !!! Let's Play!!! Let's Play!!! Let's Play!!!
Games and Fun for
Everyone!
Straw Face (Middle school and up)
This is a fun to watch 4 - 6 people sitting in chairs facing an audience. Give them each a plastic straw. Facing the audience they put the straws in their mouths holding from the right side. On "go" they must move the straws to its left side by only using their mouths and tongues. This is hilarious with kids making the funniest facial expressions as they move the straws.
"Murder in The Dark" Count how many people are playing. Then
get
as many blank pieces of paper....on one of the papers
very
lightly write "murderer" then fold them all up and
put them
in a bowl. Each player chooses a
paper and looks at it with out revealing what they
see.
The person who got the 'murderer' slip of will be
the
murderer and it's up to the rest to guess who it
is......any wrong guesses and that person is out.
Everyone
sit in a circle and holds hand (best played in the
dark!)
The murderer starts by squeezing lightly the hand of
the
person to thier left or right however many times they
choose (under five aqueezes) the next person
subtracts a
squeeze and passes it along, the person next to him
subtracts a squeeze and passes it along untill there
are no
more to squeeze........when someone thinks they know
who
the murderer is they announce, "I suspect so and
so"....if
they are wrong they are dead. (out of the game) The
first
person to guess correctly wins or the last person to
be
left with the murderer while everyone else is dead
wins!
Farmer John Relay (Middle school and
up)
Get two large brown grocery bags. In each put
a long
underwear, pants with elastic suspenders, bright
colored
bandana, a crazy wig, shirt, corn cob pipe, hat, etc.
Divide into two teams. On the word "go" each team
must send
a person to the bag. The person must then put on
everything
over the clothes they are presently wearing and model
for
10 seconds. Then take everything off and put it back
in the
bag and run back to their team so that the next team
member
can run and model.
"Flashlight Tag" This is another
game to
be played in the dark. Choose someone to be it. The
'it'
person has the flashlight and hides his eyes while
counting
to twenty (or more) Everyone else run and hide!
After the
"it" person is done counting he tries to find
everyone, one
by one......if the people can make it back to home
base
without having the flashlight shined on them they're
safe.....BUT if you get the flashlight shined on you
you're
out! Have fun!
"Pumpkin Carving
Relay"This
relay
not for young children.Pre Caution: Only use safe
pumpkin
carvers. Put people into teams of two or three and
give
each team a pumpkin. Have someone be the
judge/timer.
You'll
need a stop watch or watch with a second hand. At
the
signal (go) one person from each team begins to
carve
their
pumpkin. give each person about 3 minutes then yell
stop!
Then the next team member takes over from where
his team mate left off and has 3 minutes to further
carve
the pumpkin. Again, after three minutes the timer
yells
stop! and the next team mate goes....on and on untill
the
pumpkins look like jack o lanterns or apporx 15
minutes
which ever comes first. Have someone be the
judge...this
could also be the timer or the parents in charge of
the
party it's up to them who wins!
"Broomstick Relay" The larger the
group the
better.....you'll need a large space or do this
outside.
And you will need as many broomsticks as you have
teams.
Divide everyone up into even teams. Then line them
all up
at a starting point. Have an end goal line. Give
each
team a broom stick (any broom will do) At the
signal
(go) each person puts the broom between thier legs
and
gallops to the goalline...then gallop back and hand
it off to the next person. On and on untill everyone
has
had a turn. First team to finish wins! You can vary
this
game by requiring the teams to hop rather than
gallop.
You can also vary it by having the lead person 'pick'
up
the next one and they both travel on the broomstick
together to the end and back, adding the next team
member
and so on....this variation is TONS of fun! (better
with
smaller teams of three or less)
"Bobbing for
apples"For
this game you need a wide mouth bucket or a good old
fashioned wash tub! Oh, and apples! The bigger the
apples
the more fun this is. Make sure you wash all
apples first, fill your tub or bucket with water
(about halfway) then put apples into the tub (about
10-
use your own judgement) Have a watch with a second
hand,
timer or stop watch handy. You can do this in teams
or
individually. Give each contestant about one minute
to do
this. One at a time, each contestant has hands
behind
thier back (no hands!) If you decide to do this in
teams or
as a relay use two buckets of water and apples and
line
team members up. On the signal "GO" each contestant
puts
thier head into
the bucket and try to grab an apple out of it with
thier
mouth only.....once they've got one - mark the time
and
record it. If they dont get one within a minute it's
the
nex persons turn. At the end of the game the person
who
was able to grab an apple within the shortest amount
of
time will win! If you do this in teams no need to
record
times.....just make sure both contestants dont go
over one
minute, when one minute is up next two contestants
try.
When everyones had a turn the team with the most
apples
wins.
Tip: Once an apple has been bitten dont reuse it.
Pumpkin Toss (All ages)
Similar to egg tossing. Use a small pumpkin per two
players. The two people toss the pumpkin back and
forth to each other, each time stepping back away
from each other. The person wins who does not drop
the pumpkin.
