Easy Recipes-Festive and Fun!

"Marshmellow Popcorn"
Ingredients needed:
2 Cups Brown Sugar
2 Cubes butter or magrgarine
1-16oz bag of Marshmellows
Big bowl of popped popcorn
Melt together over medium heat all ingredients (except for the popcorn),stirring constantly. When completely melted pour over popcorn, mixing lightly, Eat it straight from the bowl or make it into popcorn balls! Yum!




"White Chocolate Dipped Pretzels"
Ingredients needed:
White chocolate
Packaged pretzels (and shape or size)
Have some waxed paper handy, laid out and ready, you'll also need a pair of tongs or a fork to scoop out the pretzels. Melt chocolate in double boiler.....if you dont have one you can still melt the cholcolate, just heavily coat the pan in butter and melt on low heat watching carefully and scraping the bottom often. Once chocolate is melted, keep warm....then dip pretzels (the curvy shaped ones work best) one or a few at a time depending on the utensil you are using. Put on wax paper to set. Scrumcious!




"Peppermint Ice-Cream"
Ingredients needed:
Peppermint sticks,peppermint candy or candy canes
Vanilla Ice Creme
Put your peppermints in a heavy duty zip lock type bag and secure it shut. (you may need to put candies in several bags depending on how much candy you need) let the children it stomp on it....break them up into tiny pieces....they use it for topping on ice cream! Another variation is to add some minature chocolate chips! My children love it this way!




"Nutty-Putty"
Ingredients needed:
3-1/2 cups Peanut Butter
4 Cups powdered sugar
3 1/2 cups corn syrup or honey
1-6oz/ pkg of chocolate pieces (optional)
Mis first four ingredients together. Divide into 10 to 15 portions. Dip into melted chocolate pieces for a tasty snack. Store extra portions in plastic freezer bags in refridgerator or freezer. This treat also makes a fun play dough....children can mold it and shape it and play while they eat it!




"Wassail"
Ingredients needed:
1/2 cup sugar
4 cups boiling water
3 whole allspice
6 whole cloves
1 Tablesppon ground ginger
1 piece stick cinnamon 1" long
Pour sugar into 2 cups boiling water, boil 5 minutes. Add spices, cover and let stand one hour. Add remaining water and fruit juices: mix will, then strain. Reheat to boiling....let cool a bit and serve warm.




"Graham Cracker House"
Ingredients needed:
For each house you will need:
1 graham cracker square plus 1/2 square cut diagonally
frosting
small candies
Using frosting, glue long side of half cracker to top of whole cracker so that it makes it into a 'house' shape. Then simply decorate house using frosting and small candies however you please!




"Gelatin Christimas Trees"
Ingredients needed:
1 small pkg lime gelatin
1 cup boiling water
1 envelope unflavored gelatin
1/2 cup cold water
2 cups fruit cocktail including juice
9 Pointed paper cups
cottage cheese or whipped creme
Dissolve lime gelatin in boiling water. Soften unflavored gelatin in cold water, add to first mixture and stir well. Mix in fruit cocktail. Cool to room temperature. Rinse paper cups with water and stand in glasses, pointed side down. Pour cooled gelatin mixture into cups. Chill untill firm. To serve carefuly unwrap paper cup, place gelatin tree pointed side up on salad plate, and surround with cottage cheese or whipped cream.




"Fiddle-Sticks"
Ingredients Needed:
1 small bag of stick pretzels
1 can chocolate frosting
Line cookie sheet with waxed paper. Spoon frosting into saucepan and stir over low hear untill frosting is melted. Dip two-thirds of pretzel stick into melted frosting, then place on waxed paper. Repear with remaining pretzels. Let stand untill dry.




"Yum-Yums"
Ingredients needed:
1 pkg caramels
1pkg marshmallows
1/2 box crisp rice cereal
Unwrap caramels and place in heavy saucepan. Melt caramels over low heat, stirring constantly. Pour cereal into deep bowl. Stick fork into marshmallow, dip marshmallow into caramel sauce, then into cereal, Place finished candies on waxed paper. Eat at room temperature, but refrigerate to keep fresh.
