I WAS ONCE TOLD BY CLOSE FRIEND THAT THE WORDS USED FOR POETRY WAS FOUND DEEP WITHIN THE SOUL....FOR IT IS THE SOUL THAT NOURISHES THE HEART.....

THESE ARE SOME OF MY FAVORITE POEMS. SOME MY HUBBY WROTE FOR ME AND OTHERS CAME FROM CARDS HE'S GOTTEN ME OR FROM THE WEB. HOPE YOU ENJOY THEM AS MUCH AS I DO.

Hubby wrote this one for me on our 5th anniversary:

FIVE

Five is a number that means many things
But to me its a special number
That has quite a ring
This 5 is an accomplishment that should be enjoyed
Because the 5 has allowed us one girl and two boys
But this number has alot to do with love
For the years that I have spent with you
The love comes from above
Your smile, your looks, your kind and caring way
You really put the light in each and everyday
We have surely had good times and also had bad
Happy times, rough times, and then a few sad
But these 5 years have made my life complete
Because a person like you is pretty hard to beat
So I surely respect this 5 in my life
Because of loving and sharing this 5 with my wife

UNTITLED:

I'm so glad you still love me.
It's so easy to love someone when a relationship is just beginning
Because both people are always looking their best, saying their best, acting their best.
But those days have come and gone for us,and you still love me.
You've seen me at my absolute worst,
Both physically and emotionally,
And loved me in spite of it.
You've been supportive when I've felt good about everything in my life
And even more so when my self-esteem was low.
You've shared in the celebration of my achievements
And helped me deal with my anger and disappointment
When everything seemed to be falling apart.
You've been at my side when I've felt proud and strong
And you've held me close and listened when I really needed a good cry.
We've been through so much since we first fell in love...
...and still, you love me.
And that makes me love you even more.

THIS ONE WAS SENT TO ME BY A REALLY GOOD FRIEND:

THE NATURE OF A FRIEND:

The nature of a friend is to: Be there for you
Cheer you up,when you are blue
Listen to all your woes
Help you out with your foes
Encourage you to succeed
Know when you are in need
Remember you on special days
Help you out in so many ways
Tell you how things really are
Remember you from afar
Give you what support they can
Be your true and loyal fan
Love you in good times or bad
Build you up when you are sad
Help you when you've done it wrong
Remind you that you do belong
Give you a pat on the back
Tell you when you've got the knack
Hug you just to console
Remind you that you have a goal
Celebrate your victories
Pick you up from your knees
Hurt with you when you're in pain
And...
...Try to wipe away your frown

MY FAVORITE SONG:

Truly Madly Deeply

(VERSE 1)

I'll be your dream, I'll be your wish I'll be your fantasy.
I'll be your hope, I'll be your love be everything that you need.
I love you more with every breath truly madly deeply do..
I will be strong I will be faithful 'cos I'm counting on
A new beginning.
A reason for living. A deeper meaning.

(CHORUS)

I want to stand with you on a mountain.
I want to bathe with you in the sea.
I want to lay like this forever.
Until the sky falls down on me...

(VERSE 2)

And when the stars are shining brightly in the velvet sky,
I'll make a wish send it to heaven then make you want to cry..
The tears of joy for all the pleasure and the certainty.
That we're surrounded by the comfort and protection of..
The highest power. In lonely hours. The tears devour you..
I want to stand with you on a mountain,
I want to bathe with you in the sea.
I want to lay like this forever,
Until the sky falls down on me... >
(BRIDGE)

Oh can't you see it baby?
You don't have to close your eyes 'cos it's standing right before you.
All that you need will surely come...
I'll be your dream I'll be your wish I'll be your fantasy.
I'll be your hope I'll be your love be everything that you need.
I'll love you more with every breath truly madly deeply do...

(CHORUS)

[repeat until fade] >
I want to stand with you on a mountain....

Tom Schulman

"We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for. To quote from Whitman, 'O me! O life!... of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless--of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life? Answer. That you are here--that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse.' That the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?"

William Shakespeare (1564-1616)

Sonnet XVIII: Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance or nature's changing course untrimm'd;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou growest:
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this and this gives life to thee.
