Edgemont

The Edgemont S.O.S. Group, which consists of Chris Yourchik and Sava Aujla, are going to be focusing on community safety. We will be working with volunteers who will be helping us while we work in the Edgemont Community Policing Office. Some ideas for our group projects emphasise physical, mental, and emotional abuse, and to help lock out auto crime.
Our main goal is to educate youth on the effects of abuse and give them some helpful options and information that can hopefully help them.
Summertime beach cleaning is One idea we have put together. Beaches involved would be Ambleside, Cates, Waterfront, and the general Deep Cove area. The goal is to provide a cleaner, safer beach for the public to enjoy.

For the past couple of years there have been many deaths along the Capilano River. The S.O.S. program, along with the Outdoor Safety Committee, plan to post warning signs along the Dangerous parts of the river.

One proposal we are putting together is to have the City of North Vancouver take a look at some of the parks in the area. We believe there is a major lighting problem in North Vancouver Parks, and hope to rectify it.

Have you ever wondered how emergency teams find homes that do not have their addresses posted?
They Don't.
The West Vancouver and North Vancouver Safety Committee and the S.O.S. program have a plan to Create new Address signs, and to paint your address on the sidewalk infront of your house. That way, emergency vehicles will be able to spot your house, and your pizza will always be hot & on time!
