Cradle Mountain and Dove Lake can be found at the Lake St Clair National Park. It's just an hour drive from Sheffield and one and a half hours from disembarking from the Spirit of Tasmania.
It rises one thousand, five hundred and forty five metres above sea level and its an extremely popular tourist destination with many thousands visiting each year. Everybody seems to want to be able to say "we went to Cradle Mountain".
There are overland trails for those who are energetic, plus there are the more gentler walks for people like me. *G* But "BE WARNED" the weather can change in five minutes, from being a perfect summers day to a blizzard, so its best to be prepared for all the seasons when you visit. There have been lives lost in the atrocious conditions.
I hope you've enjoyed just a small glimpse of this majestic mountain, maybe you'll come visit it one day!!
