Leonard Bernstein
LEONARD BERNSTEIN (1918-1990) was, in my opinion, the greatest composer of the twentieth century. I think many "progressive" bands, such as Gentle Giant, Savatage, and Yes (obviously, since they covered some of his songs), owe Bernstein a mention as an inspiration.
"The key to the mystery of a great artist is that for reasons unknown, he will give away his energies and his life just to make sure that one note follows another...and leaves us with the feeling that something is right in the world."
"Technique is communication: the two words are synonymous in conductors."
